Okay, I guess that'll do! ;> That just means it will be a while before I can start talking you into the remote turbo setup. I had planned on doing that with a Jeep 2.5L or built 190 or so L-head (late 195.6 block bored 0.060-0.125 over w/ shorter stroke 1955-57 184 L-head crank -- overbore dependent on what pistons might fit) in a 62 American made into a roadster. But as I mentioned this to a friend of my brothers he had a better idea -- buy the Mercur XR4ti he was stuck with behind his shop. 2.3L turbo four w/T-5 and IRS. Hmmm.... perfectly sized for the 62 American... For $250 I couldn't pass it up, and EFI to boot!! Even if the engine needs freshening up it will be a nice ride. If he'd wanted the $500+ I expected him to ask I think I'd have passed. Just the T-5 and IRS are well worth the $250, so I maight reconsider the L-head if I find the parts. Will have to see down the road since I won't even start on this thing for a couple years! If you weren't a five hour drive from here (according to Google maps) I'd drop by one weekend. I kind of thought I'd be close enough to see a few people from Dover, but I'm a 2-3 hour drive away from everybody! There is one local AMC guy here -- has a "Donohue" Javelin (came off the line two cars after the official run is thought to have ended, original window sticker lists "Dononhue Spoiler" as an added option -- I saw the original window sticker) and a super nice semi-restored 64 Ambo two door sedan w/327 4V. The Ambo is really nice! Only non-stock items are wheels/tires, dash pad, and the trim behind the arm rests. Dash pad was just to far gone to save, so he had a pad special made to cover the passenger side anyway. The trim behind the arm rests was also to corroded in the center to totally save, so he glued a piece of the seat fabric (not 100% orignal pattern, but a very close match) in the center and left the raised edge exposed. If he hadn't pointed it out it I'd have never known! It's one of those things you have to know about to notice. The door panels are replicas as well, not exact but close enough you'd never know without prior knowledge or very close inspection. Expect to see this car (and maybe the "Donohue") in a future issue of AIM!
