Re: FW: Jeep 4.0 in an American?

A: I'm making the shortbox '88 Comanche that is my current daily driver into
a full time 4x4 able rig (for my wife) with AW4 and NP242 along with the 6"
lift and 33" tires. The D35 axle won't get quite as hard a thump once that
is done. (I'm a little rough when I show off now and then with the BA 10/5
and I carried 1800lbs to the scrapyard this AM with it)

I will probably die with this project in my head, but I'm going to proceed
as time allows.
What I want to build for myself after I get the Convertible running is a
Comanche Long bed, 4X4, Stroker engine, T-5 2:95 first gear, close ratio
transmission. 3:55 or 3:73 gears. The all wheel drive type transfer case. No
lift, More a Street truck. Not an off roader.
I actually have most of the stroker parts, Renix injection. Access to an
all wheel drive type transfer case from an 80's XJ ETC. No hurry on this
project at all. Like I said I'll probably die before it gets done :]
My point is I would build the two wheel drive Jeep with the T-5 or
similar car geared trans. Just because it is more "street" friendly,
depending on the gear set. It is also light weight, 75 lbs. The AX15 is IMHO
too notchy in shift action to be "fun" on the street.
Of course the T-5 into the XJ body is not a bolt in. which I'm sure is
what you are after.
