feel is controlled by a torsion bar in the ps gear valve. the thicker the bar, the more the feel; they range from 0.165" dia to 0.204". most are on the small end; something like a z28 would have a 0.195". they also showed the early zj box was a good choice; fast ratio, medium-high feel, wide turning angle.
i learned this from a page in a gm-oriented website. it had specs for saginaw gears from the mid '60s to mid '90s at least. unfortunately, i can't find the url again...
OK, it's RTFM time! The time for this sub-project for me is not now, but I do want to eventually find a 2.5 turn box, and that will be the time for this research.
