Re: Manual to PS Swap

Not sure about the Javelin but I changed the power steering in my Gremlin to
manual. It required changing the steering box (obviously), pitman arm and
idler arm. The tie rods and drag links are the same. I think it's a safe bet
your Javelin steering is the same.

Subject: Manual to PS Swap

The recent thread on locating a power steering chuck triggered this idea.

I'm thinking of changing the manual steering in my Javelin to power. Has
anybody on the list done this before?
I guess what I need to know is what models will be good doners of the
ear - would a Spirit or Concord gear bolt up?. Will I have to change the
pitman arm? Is there a difference in columns between manual and power? ....

My crank and fan pulleys are both dual groove so I need a pump that will
line up with the existing pulleys. The OE style pump would be the obvious
choice for fit and stock appearance, but I'll bet the later model pumps are
easier (read cheaper) to come by.

TIA for any help, advice or 2 bit opinions,
