I even recognize that -- amongst Rambler Classics -- the 1964 model is not going to be the one people will really eyeball, preferring the 1963 Car of the Year, for example.
I dunno -- the 64 is the 63, with a few minor refinements, even. I prefer 64. So do two other Classic nuts here in LA. (Might makes right, right? :-)
This is why it surprised me that my car made it in HCC. ... Yet I *like* to see the workhorses. I enjoy seeing a Classic or American, or in those later years, a Matador, Hornet, or what not. It's part of what made AMC, well... AMC. And if you look at these cars, well, they may not be the zippy Javelin or hardcore Machine, but they can be pretty attractive, functional, and fun cars to have around. :-)
The best car coverage in Hemmings Classic Car is precisely that, the workhorse cars. The have most of the pieces of the more notable ones, usually -- body lines, driveline components, etc -- just not all at once. Plus, when all the lemming magazines hover around the campfire of the overly-familiar, Hemmings gets to mine the literally thousands of models that everyone ignores. There's always some damn thing in there I've never heard of. Very smart of them!
