Years ago a small town on the outskirts of Atlanta had a very high theft rate. Thugs from Atlanta were always coming over. Well, the local gov't had enough, and enacted a city ordinance that ALL homeowners HAD to have a firearm in the home! Police held bi-weekly training classes for about six months, and would come out and suggest a type of firearm. Old ladies with 20 gauge semi-auto short barrel shot guns. I don't know that anyone got shot, but it was widely publicized and the article must have run in every Atlanta paper. Theft rate went down to near zero in the course of a few weeks! That "sun-down" law is just common sense. It's dark, you gonna wait to see if an intruder has a gun? I'm not. And I don't care to watch someone leave my house with an arm load of stuff *I* worked and paid for either! That's why I keep that little .25 auto my wife had before we married (she can reach the .380 loaded with hollow points in the night stand). If I have to shoot someone in my home it will be theirs! Just have to remember to wipe it down good before putting it in their hand...
