From: "malcolm mcclendon" <amceagleman@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: lift kit for eagles Date: Sat, 09 Apr 2005 19:44:49 -0700 I would like to get a lift kit for my 1984 eagle. Does any one if there is one that i can buy or am i going to have to put it on a new frame. if any one can give me any help it would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------- ok - how high ? Are you planning 32" Gumbies ? When you begin to pump up the front end, you'll run out of front drive shaft spline - so GM shaft units are substituted - they may be Eldorado or Toronado units. Jim B. is on the Eagle list - so you might join up @ yahoogroups.com to tap his knowledge of front drive interchange parts. When you decide how high you want to go - bigger front springs from Eaton or Espo will do nicely - tell them what you want and you'll do it right. On the Eagle - rear springs are already on top of the Axel - so you'll need new springs with the correct arch to do it properly and have a SAFE highway going Eagle. I AM NOT a fan of large SHACKLES - as these FAIL and you'll die at highway speeds....... all you shackle LUhVERS need not get your pants tight on this topic 'cause shackles were never designed to handle highway speeds and cornering loads. You can do what you like in your CJ in the woods - but skip coming for support for SHACKLES on the STREET. Putting a 3600+ lb. Eagle on some long strips of metal & sending it out to do 75mph manuvers - is a knowledge base I would conjecture most lack beyond their Budwisers.. Buy correctly arched AND correct STRENGTH springs for the back - and correct length springs for the front. It is way old knowledge from street racing days of the late 60s - passed down over the years - that shackles are NOT to be run on the street - yeah ...... one of our own Died in the roll over - flip - when the shackle sheared - and as for your Space Shuttle Materials etc. - "Have a Nice Day".
