Thieves often get VIN numbers at car shows and then run fake Carfax to get the where of the vehicle. My last really nice car was swiped by someone going to the Motor Vehicle and claiming to be background checking a car parked for sale (My Fairlane WASN'T for sale!) It was locked in the garage when they dragged the door open with a truck and stole it. He says "VIN on the internet" -- how? Is it possible that's just a made-up backstory for the attempt at purchase story, and they are locals? Very disturbing. -------------------- Tom,
