They are claiming to have designed the AMC 6 cyl p to the 4.0L.
It just seems soooo silly, 'very few people knew about 258 crank in a 4.0...' puh-leeze, any smart hobbiest with a tape measure coulda figgered that rocket science out and probably did first thing.

Greg, This group is monitored by people who want to know what kind of mis information is put out here as well as all the other forums. We don't entervene unless someone posts something that is going to cost a guy alot of money if he believes what he is told. Jack Clifford was a good customer of mine and bought his AMC/Jeep parts from me. He was a Ford/Chevy man and didn't know diddly about the AMC six cylinder. Then he copied alot of our parts. The 4.0 intake he sold for the 4.0 for a carb. we invented for him just as most of what is sold by Mopar for Jeeps is invented here. We have been with AMC/Jeep since around 1963. You're right about Mike at Accurate Power being mostly straight forward. He's about the only person on this site that usually knows what he's talking about. By the way you don't use a 4.2 crank and rods in a stroked engine. You use 4.0 rods and custom pistons to properly stroke the engine. A short rod engine is a short track engine and does not make any long term power. That idea is a by product of african engineering by people to cheap to build the engine properly. I do not know Jim Blair but what he has posted is totally false. He has posted total BS here. That's his privilage. If he wants to know about the aluminum head he needs to purchase one. Alot of information is not given out because there are two other companies that are copying it and will have their own version for sale in early summer. The aluminum head is quite a bit better than the stock cast head or the money for R&D wouldn't have been spent on it. As far as the 40 5.0 engines built in the 70's...that isn't what he was told. We had the 5.0 blocks cast at the foundry in Mexico City for the Jeep pro off road engines in 1989 for the engines we built for the factory sponsored race teams. He was told we have 40 of the mexican 282 engines and then we told him where to find more if he wanted more for himself. The safari thing(his words)..he was told a Jeep was at the TDS jamboree in San Diego that had an aluminum head on it and another is in Farmington involved in a mag article being done by JP Magazine. The next thing is you stated you were told some BS at our company. Care to elaborate so we can address that issue. I would be happy to straighten that out for you. You can e-mail or call me anytime, or I can call you. I don't like for a bunch of untrue things being said and will be glad to straighten out whatever it is. Thanks for time Greg. Bennie

I first talked to Hesco seven or eight years ago and it was the same BS. That's essentially along the lines of why I started this group. I got screwed by Clifford after buying one of their engines and it blew up with 7k on the motor. After tearing the engine down I began to realize what a bill of goods I was sold. The salesman was John who now works for Speedomotive. Most people in this group don't realize that the stroker recipe was kept as secret as possible and as long as possible by Hesco and Clifford. Very few people knew about using a 258 crank and rods in a 4.0 and now it's almost common knowledge. Clifford used to be a great company until Jack Clifford got too old (and passed away a few years ago) and sold it to a guy that's pretty shady in my opinion. If I were buying a kit or an engine these days my money would go to Accurate Power. There doesn't seem to be any BS there, and Mike certainly contributes a lot to the group. There's also Jakes and Golen but I don't really have any experience with them, although I've never heard anything bad about either. One thing I wonder is why AP is the only one on this group. I have to believe that the other stroker companies monitor our chatter but choose not to reveal themselves. Maybe I'm wrong, but if I were in the business I'd sure want to know what goes on here.
