" interchange between or completely different?? Thanks in advance.
complete. the alts probably interchange...
the iron puke is a mongrel descendant of the '60s chevy four, itself
2/3 of a 230 six, and bits of buick like the very small bearings...
the amc is a 4-cyl derivative of the amc six; the 4.0 took the ground
it broke and applied it back to the six.
the iron puke still has a sbc chev bellhousing pattern, thus
encouraging jeepers to swap chevy v8s... oddly, the amc 150 has a
chev 2.8/3.1/3.4 v6 pattern, probably anticipating cherokee use
alongside the little v6.
btw that chevy four is still in production in mexico, in a 181-cube
version, for marine and industrial uses. the 140-hp 181 has long been
popular in sterndrives.
