I had to head to Richmond, VA today to help the parents, and decided to stop in at a flea market on the way down that I hadn't been to in a long time. While driving down, I changed my mind and went to a small antiques market instead, I hadn't visited it either in a long, long time. It was raining hard when I got there, and I'd lost first gear in my Toyota truck as well by the time I got there <another story>. Anyway, went inside, looked thru the mags near the door, found some old car and model train stuff, belonged to a guy just around the next doorway who had nothing but paperwork stuff - books, magazines, postcards, if it was made of paper, he had it. And VERY well organized, too! So after selecting some outside, I went into his "room", and wow, loads of stuff! I hit the model train stuff first, then asked about car stuff. He had only a little auto literature per se, about 3-4 small boxes, and all mixed. I found 2 nice 52-53 Nash Rambler color tri-fold-out sales brochures, big ones, he wanted $30 each for those. Ouch. Glossy, nice colors...I passed, though. He had pulled out some other, more esoteric stuff while I was looking thru the sales lit, and he had a '41? Nash calendar that had monthly reminder lube and service charts, I'm not sure if it was a dealership or service station or personal use one, it was used, but still in nice shape. Don't think the entire calendar was there, it used the 5 x 7 inch tear-offs, I believe some were gone. Calender was strangely shaped, like a upside-down keyhole or something. He wanted $25 for that. But the NICE score was he had 10 vinyl records, HUGE MONSTERS, that were Nash Dealership training records, all in the Nash album slip covers, I haven't checked them out totally yet, but they look mint ( the records), the slip covers have only minor wear, great color. One even has showroom music on it. :) Overall, an awesome find ! I steeled myself when I asked how much...he said $60 for the set! These records are also supposed to go with slide-film for training, , used in a Magnavox Illustravox unit. I also got a small flat fold-up "binder" with the instructions and the Nash Training Program paperwork inside. all in all, a pretty neat find! I hope to be able to get the showroom music somehow transferred to CD or tape if possible. My other Nash item was a gimme by the seller, he found a Nash ticket stub for a chance to win a Nash Ambassador car, a dealership promo thing, he just gave it to me. I think he said he also had a Nash poster somewhere, but I was in a rush to get to my parents by this time, as I'd already spent an HOUR alone at his booth! I DEFINITELY want to go back there again, he's got so much neat stuff! It'll take all day to look thru it. Wow, wow, wow. Anyway, if anyone wants to buy his 50-52 and 53 Nash TSM's / Supplement, poster, or calendar, and wants to deal directly with him, here's his number - John Whiting's Old Paper ( 804 ) 746-4710 or 264-2424 Again, he's in/near Richmond, VA. He has a huge selection of old Look, Life, Post, and other magazines with old car ads in them, I was really impressed with his organization of everything. Just impressive. I'm definitely going back again soon. :) Well, that's my pseudo-AMC recollection for the day, it was a trip well worth the making, even with the yukky weather.
