Sounds like you have a leaking front seal is all. That requires pulling the transmission to fix. It's the seal that goes around the neck of the torque converter, if that helps any! When the engine turns the pump in the trans fluid flows to the torque converter and comes out the seal. It isn't hard to fix, the only hard part is the transmission must come out. Any time you pull an auto trans that hasn't had the seal changed in 5+ years put a new seal in! I change the $5 seal if it's been more than a year. to much trouble to pull the trans for a $5 seal! Okay, may be $10-$15 for the seal now, but the same applies!
