The danger of pancaking your hdtp is the primary reason the style was killed. Attaching a shoulder belt was possible (as Jav proved) but they couldn't get past the safety thing. Too bad as I really dig the style. One of my earliest reports in school was on car styles (bless those Liberal Arts drgrees) and I used many books as references. Here is a description from the New Standard Encyclopedia; "Sedans; Have closed bodies and are made in 2 and 4 door models. Both models have front and rear seats and will seat 4 to 6 adults. Coupes; Similiar to 2-dr sedans but generally have shorter, and sometimes lower, rooflines and less passenger room in the rear. Hardtops- Similiar to sedans and coupes but have no supporting pillar between their side windows. The style was originally intended to copy that of the convertible, but with the advantages of a steel roof and less drafty interior." As we know every one took liberties with the styles of cars, but I sure miss those hdtps. Kids these days who don't even know what a carb or two speed auto is call my hdtp a pillarless sedan.....Russ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
