I don't know if this subject has been gone over on the AMC-list before...or anywhere else for that matter. The Kaplan 68/69 Trans Am Javelin race cars had the usual 5-lug wheels. Same goes for the 1971 Penske and 1972 Woods cars. But the 1970, in era photos, has 4 lugs. Knowing the Penske thought process, this is likely a bending of the rules to shorten pit times... but has a firm reason ever been nailed down? John
