You've got the right idea Jim! On my first Classic wagon I kept the Jeep 4.0L AC compressor and attached it to a universal type under dash unit inside the car. Required custom hoses though. Southern Air and Vintage Air both have the universal evaporator units. Just get the compressor bracket from any AMC six (pre 74 -- bracket locations changed in 74!). You can buy an adapter for a Sanden compressor (originals were the big York piston compressors -- look like 3.5 hp BS lawn mower engines, only aluminum!). Just make sure you get a compressor with a V belt pulley.

I'm wanting to add an AC cool-only system in my '67 Rebel Wagon - 232 six - 3 sp. Of course, when I talk to AC folks, they say they don't list a kit for that! But, I gotta believe that a Jeep CJ kit would work, at least under the hood, and go with an appropriate evap/fan unit in the car.
Does anyone have some insight/previous experiance doing something similar, esp with an AMC six?
Any suggestions, or preferences/good experiances with a particular AC Kit supplier? Are there any good AC folks out there that can think of what-fits-what, not just look in a catalog for a listing?
All input welcome!
I'm trying to get this car ready for comfortable Florida cruising, plus Mama said she won't ride with me to the Atlanta AMO Nats in July unless it has AC! HELP!
Thanks,
Jim Boone
