Try an eastwood stripe remover pad, it's similar to using a giant spinning
pencil eraser. It's designed to do just what you are trying to do.

I'm having my Hornet SC 360 repainted tomorrow.  How
in the hell (I'm frustrated) do I remove the old
stripe?  It's so thin it's coming off in tiny pieces. 
At the rate I was going, it would take me forever.  I
also don't have a heat source hot enough to do it that
way.  Also, how do I remove the windshield wipers?
