Re: Removing Intake Heat Shield

Thanks for the input Mike. My oil tube was really stuck. We actually lifted
out the cast iron intake holding on to the oil fill tube and the EGR valve.

I finally got ahold of one of the local club guys that does a lot of engine
work. He suggested a few taps with a rubber mallot and that worked great.
For the heat shield he said that sometimes he drilled them out and sometimes
he cut the rivet heads with a sharp chisel. They came right off with a
chisel, and we used small pop rivets to put it on the new manifold.

This is the first intake for my son and I, but we seem to be moving steadily
along.
