Ya'll, It was a long, long day, and I am soon to hit the bed (hard) but yes, the Hemmings' photo shoot went swimmingly. The day comprised of "rolling shots" (the cars traveling down the road, while being shot from a "chase car), "details shots" (close-ups of chrome doodads, special features, etc), "beauty shots" (the "automobile centerfold," if you will), and a "driving impression" (the photographer drives your car around for a while). It was about six hours, all told, involving both Little Car and a 1961 Rambler Classic. I can't wait to see the photos that the Hemmings' photographer too -- not to mention actually seeing my Little Car in a magazine! Of course, you wouldn't expect me to go to a photo shoot of my car without taking a couple quick pix for myself, now would you? Here's that 1961. Most of the "beauty" shots were done at sundown. This shows just how long of a day we had, given that we started this process just after 1:00 p.m. http://www.gwensmith.com/weblog/shoot05_01.jpg Here's Little Car, getting shot by Jeff, the Hemmings Motor News photographer... http://www.gwensmith.com/weblog/shoot05_02.jpg ...and here's the sort of photo he was taking. The lighting is weird in this one due to the time of day. http://www.gwensmith.com/weblog/shoot05_03.jpg Finally, here's a sunset shot I composed, purely for myself. http://www.gwensmith.com/weblog/shoot05_04.jpg The last one is the sort of shot I've wanted to take of Little Car for a very, very long time. Just at sunset, with the chrome gleaming. I must admit some pride in seeing a lot of hard work -- both this week and in the last four years -- represented in this one nice shot. And now... bed.
