Frank Swygert (farna@xxxxxxx), you said... > My comments mixed in with the original message. and likewise! >>1. What modifications have been done, etc. >> 2. Steering ratio? For that matter, what to put in for "Turns lock to >> lock" > >I know you looked in the specs section of the 64 TSM and didn't find the >ratio. Look in the text, however, and you'll find it. Page 6 of "Front >Suspension - Steering Gear", bottom of center column, mentions 24:1 ratio. >I didn't find anything about turns lock to lock, but you can got sit in >the car and figure that one out! I suppose you know that means with the >wheel turned as far as it can to one side, how many turns of the steering >wheel does it take to turn as far as you can to the other side. Ya, I looked through the specs there and did not find it, which is obviously what threw me. I'll have to find myself a good parking lot and figure out that lock to lock number. They're also asking for the turning circle radius: I'll have to give 'em the diameter, as that's all I've found in the ol' books. >> 3. Front and rear track? > >"Standard Catalog of American Cars" (and "SC of Independents") list front >track at 58.2", rear at 57.4". When you don't see the track (or tread) >listed look to the previous model. The "Catalogs" only list the changes in >following similar models. That can be confusing until you figure it out! Ah yes! You see, I did not know that track and tread were interchangable terms. This I had in the owner's manual. That's most of the stuff that I can deal with on the form. Much is just going to have to be blank (like the type, brand, model, size, and material of the intake valves -- given that they're whatever happens to be in the head of Little Car). Meanwhile, I've got the hole through the hood all mapped out, and an 11/32" drill bit at the ready. Looks like I'll get that windshield washer system done today. If I don't chicken out about putting a hole in the hood!
