Re: Dearth of Pacers

http://www.amcpacer.com/ is the main Pacer Pages, I believe. This Jeni girl
has been the Pacer promoter for a number of years now. Or just do a
Google.com search for "pacer page amc" or something similar and start
clicking.
I don't know how many Pacer People are left in the AMC List group but I
think there are a few.

Subject: Dearth of Pacers

After being away from the list while my 76 Pacer sat in the barn for the
last four (nearly five!) years, I'm now ready to get to work on it (the
Pacer... Not the list!).

After browsing the archive I'm struck by the scarcity of Pacer postings.
Have all the Pacers go on to the happy hunting ground? Or have I just
gotten worn out wading through the "administrative" postings?

Anyway, I'm ready to get back to "restoring" the 76 Pacer D/L that I
bought at the Berlin, Germany Army PX back in... 1976(duh).

About 10 years ago I bought stripping rights to a junk-yard Pacer. Texas
wouldn't allow me to buy a junk-titled car for some reason, so I spent a
month in the mud taking it apart an hauling anything salvageable back
home. My major find was the factory air that my Pacer was lacking
(didn't need it in Germany).

Up until about 5 years ago the Pacer was a daily driver. Then I had a
problem with the A/C blower motor and in the process of removing the
blower assembly (what a pain) the plastic pieces that hold the bolts
that pass through the firewall disintegrated. So I decided I didn't have
the time to fix that and drove the Pacer to the barn and parked it next
to the 1975 MGB. There it sat.

Now my current daily driver (89 Lincoln TC) has acquired a knock (piston
or wrist pin, don't know yet, but I don't trust it driving the 75 miles
to Dallas every day. So now I'm "stuck" driving my 1971 Firebird 350
Espirit. Actually, it is fun, but at nearly $2.00 a gallon, it's getting
tight. I know the Pacer doesn't get good gas mileage, but it's GOT to be
better than the Firebird.

So... (yes I'm going to finally shut up!) I'm back to the list and hope
to get all the help that I used to back in 1999 and 2000.

As soon as I determine what parts I'm going to need, I'll post my
"begging" list.

Thanks to all for keeping the list going, and just remember the words
made famous by Rodney King.... Hahn...D*^^@, I forgot them!
