I second Tom's statements they seem reasonable. I've stayed quiet and bit my tongue on all this bad behavior crap to help it die quicker. But I feel Tom's post has merit and I back this architecture. ~John -----Original Message----- From: Tom Jennings [mailto:tomj@xxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 02, 2005 3:30 PM To: AMC List Subject: My suggested rules for a moderated AMClist. Just because it's simpler to do so, here's my honest suggestions for a set of rules for AMClist. No more, no less! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Excessively rude or abusive behavior will not be tolerated. When group consensus and/or the moderator decide that bad behavior has become excessive, the moderator will state so clearly, and the participants must stop immediately and are also put on notice that continued bad behavior will invoke Violations listed below: - First violation: warning. - Second violation: banishment for a day. - Third violation: banishment for a day. - Fourth violation: banishment for a week. - Fifth violation: banishment for a month. Please ensure that your "From:" name is included in all of your postings so that you fellow list members can contact you off-list. The use of anonymous posting to intentionally avoid accountability will result in immediate and permanent banishment from the list. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Note that it doesn't attempt to banish all rudeness or anger. We all get pissed off. But at some point it becomes abusive; if you won't cool yourself off, fine, but list culture will be preserved. Everything else, I think the list runs itself just fine. Off-topic only goes on so far before some hardcore AMCer says "OK, enough!" then pretty much everyone stops. No one's perfect. We don't need to regulate behavior, just excessive.
