Randy Guynn and the List

Here is the deall with Randy Guynn in a nutshell.
1. He sent me several threatening messages -- not only for me personally, but against the list in general. Basically he's threatened to do everything he can to shut the list down unless by tomorrow (02 March) 1) he is reinstated or 2) everyone associated with the last list "flare up" is banned.

2. I replied -- calmly -- that there was some reorganization occuring that wouldn't be completed for a few weeks. If he would wait until then I would leave it up to the new moderation group to make the decision to reinstate him or not, and even abstain from voting myself.

3. His reply was that he would not wait, and the list would suffer the consequences if his demands were not met. He would not give "us" time to "hide" or change things.

4. In case anyone is interested, the list archives on www.amxfiles.com ARE NOT part of the mailing list. Jim Stone's site belongs to him. He receives the mailing list like everyone else then posts it to the web. Anyting deleted or changed would have to be done in his files. the list itself does not keep an archive. Ralph Aussman, however, has been archiving list messages. Anyone who wants a copy of anything posted on the list for the last 6-7 years (or more) can contact him for a CD.

5. I won't give in to bullying or unreasonable demands. List membership has been set to "moderation". What this means is any new memberships to the list must be approved before becoming active. This was done to prevent spamming the list and shutting it down. I have no idea what he thinks he can do other than mount a "smear" campaign against me personally and the list in general. I've already told him that I might consider legal action against him if warranted.

I didn't send this with the intention of turning anyone for/against Randy Guynn or his business ventures. This was posted because the threats were to the list in general, and therefore considered list business, in my opinion. If anyone thinks otherwise, feel free to e-mail me. Most of you would be inclined to simply deny him access to the list had you received such e-mails. I'm still leaving it up to the moderation group. That's what I've said I would do in recent e-mails, and I'll keep my word.

I support him coming back, maybe with oversight, but I feel his technical knowledge outweighs the bad. All that stuff about the cranks and such last week? I didn't read most of it, just skipped through and gleened the tech stuff, so it didn't bother me any.

If we get back on track, talk about AMC's, and leave the politics out of it, maybe we'll get back on course.
