Here is what you should use in that project
for a Turbo l:
Use a T3 .63 a/r turbine and .50 T04E hybrid compressor.
Less lag yet it can support hi-horsepower.

The above Turbo will set you down $595.00 .
The Other way is a Blow Thru setup using a
4bbl Holley carb on a 1982 - 1988 AMC 6 Intake
and exhaust manifold.
Holley 390cfm with mech. secondaries.
Mount the Turbo Flange onto the cast Iron
AMC exhaust manifold - mount the Turbo
onto that .
>From the Turbo out you should
flare out the pipe to 3" so as to not have
backpressure on the Turbine.
SuperTrapp has a 'Plate' muffler that
attatches to the end of the exhaust pipe.
By adding or subtracting plates - it reduces
or increases sound volume / backpressure.
It is Stainless steel & a nice piece.
Use a Mr. Gasket 4bbl to 2bbl. adapter onto
the AMC Alum. Intake manifold - mount the
4bbl to that - adapter is $18.95 .
A Carb Bonnet is needed - some use IMPCO
propane conversion bonnets - others make theirs
out of the top section of Alum. fire extinguisher
bodies. Carb Bonnets are a study in themselves.
Join this group to get the modifications needed
to the carb- it is very simple mods:

I've read on the Draw Thru Turbo systems used on the
Pontiac Trans Am - 1981? - being massaged to work
on other engines - you might research that system
as well.
