I did a 1300 mile trip in my 68 American within a few hundred miles (400ish) of the engine rebuild. If everything was done right, you shouldn't have any problems.

Don't think I'm gonna make it to Sacramento this year....Since I don't have
a trailer or truck I'd have to driver 'er....and I don't want to put that
much driving on that brand new motor.  My shop suggested 2-3000 miles before
really pushing it.  I'd like to try for next year though......
