Hello, I did some "Googling" and Collier AMC is still listed as an active AMC repair and restoration facility on several Eastern NC websites. It's about a 2 hour drive from here. It sounds like it is in the same poor condition it was when I stopped by there a few years ago. It had a locked, chain link fence surrounding the property with a couple of junk-yard dogs growling at me. The place was quite an eye-sore. I guess it is so rural that there are no laws mandating it be cleaned up. The place would make a nice start for an AMC museum but being in Pikeville, NC, I doubt it would attract enough visitors to make it worth while? Word among AMC fans in this area is Mr. Collier (Robbie?) is sort of hard to deal with and thinks everything he owns is worth a lot of money. He used to open up occasionally for prospective buyers. There were some cars stored inside that should be in decent condition. The showroom also had posters and other AMC displays just like it did when they were selling new cars. I don't know if any of that is still there. Anyone wishing to visit there should call ahead. Collier Motors AMC 4713 US 117 Hwy N Pikeville, NC 919-242-4462 Pikeville is a small community in the what used to be the heart of tobacco country and is but a spot on the map. It's just a few miles north of Goldsboro, NC which is home to Seymour Johnson Air Force base. It's also just a short detour off of I-95. Have a good AMC week! Bill Garwood Elizabeth City, NC
