from Randys' Reply : So, you get the cheapest junk rods and put on your just done crank, and one lunches out on you, WAS IT SAVING A LOAD OF MONEY ON RODS?>?????? If you must spend extra money on the crank in order to run even the Better rods, not cheapos, is that really better than just running the same old Forged rods that cames in the 401 to begin with??? ===================== So I get a set of GM Forged rods that fit, are a Tad Moosier than the stock 401 rods and all for a sweet price - or maybe a set of SCAT units - for the same Dollar - to go with new Bearings that have 'Street Rep' - have the crank done by a guy here that does crank work for Paul Newman & his friends that frequent the Conn. track LimeRock, an old German guy in a shop behind Orange County Airport - - and the money the AMC price jack up would have taken goes to a better set-up - it won't be LOADS OF MONEY but it won't be money preened off by higher AMC pricing, monies that eventually add up. The 360 rods went from $375.00 to $450.00 in a Week - $75.00 mysteriously 'Justified' Overnight somehow? I FEEL for the AMC vendors - there isn't the Volume that the GM camp has in sales. And yes - when you want something & it is available only in one place for X amount - shopping around takes more time. Yet when I see SCAT products out there for the 'Other' guys at prices that are in League with each other - and then along comes AMC 'Overnight Pricing' .......... Cheapo ISN"t the consideration.
