I subscribe to the AMC-List "digest" "no mime" mode. Apparently this means that I get the AMC List in the digest mode with the message subjects and senders (disclosed) listed in their order and each email to the list is fully displayed in plain text. I get 4 or 5 each day and their may be only a couple messages in these or there may be over 20, depending on the volume of messages for a given period. Sometimes HTML or Rich Text formatted email messages are handled by the listserv that can come thru this mode that includes the textual HTML formatting along with the text messages imbedded with that formatting that is nearly unreadable. So, that is why I prefer that all you guys out there just use "plain text" for anything going to this AMC- List. It's just that I'd like to be able to read it. Plain text is a list rule yet, I believe. This also displays who the sender of the email is unless that sender opts to not have his name dispclosed on his emails. He specifies this along with his subscription. Russ, down in Salem does not have his name and email address shown on his missives to this list. He must have his reasons (as do others). Over a period of some years subscribing and specifying the features that is best has been changing as apparently newer options have become available. How the various options you select affect the style or type of email you received from the listserv isn't fully explained (I don't think...) so, in my case, I tried the plain old digest mode once and got the listing of messages and whatever messages were attachments. I didn't like that so I tried the "digest, no mime" mode and settled for that option. It looked just like what I had always been used to previously. I don't know how the other subscription options look but apparently you guys are saying that you cannot tell who is sending the messages to the list unless thay indicate it in their signature, and many do not use signatures for their messages. Anyway, you may not be aware that you may have the option to subscribe to the list in the "digest mode and the "no mime" option and it will give you these details that youi want. It may be the only way that you can get sender name now... Right? I presently do not know what one gets under the "individual messages" mode, or under the "MIME Digest" mode, or the "Index" mode. Can somebody fill me in? I hesitate to try those modes as I may get lost in among the unsubscribed masses as do Bart and Randy... As long as it is working for me now I hate to screw with it... _____________________________________________________________________ Ralph Ausmann - Hillsboro, OR - > http://mysite.verizon.net/res79g4m/ ---------previouis message below--------- Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2005 22:10:19 -0800 (PST) From: JOE FULTON <piper_pa20@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Unsigned Posts Rant To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx The list has a problem right now. Can we agree on that? Since there is no sender info showing up with our emails it is really important that people sign their posts. It's just plain thoughtless and rude not to. There have been lots of unsigned posts lately. If you want to stay below the radar get a put a radar detector in you AMC but please sign your posts when you send mail to this list.
