American drive train

Did the 64 to 66 Americans have the torque tube or open driveshaft? 
Wondering if the redesign in 64(?) included the open drive or whether it
came with the rest of the line up in 67 (late 66).  I have also read that
some late 66 Marlins came with the 290.  Did they use an open drive too
