360 Talk

Brien,

I have posted many times about these. They are a 5.885 length bushed for
floating pins. They are good for 8,00 rpm and 800 hp which is far more
than a cast rod would go and even more than our stock forged 401 are good
for. These would be really nice to add to a 390 or 401 crank in a 360
block. I am working on a 360 stroker combination that will be somewhere
in the 391-396 ci range.

Now for the bad news, Scat screwed this project up royally and now after
promising to make it right price wise, is going back on their word. They
were suppose to ship all of them at once but only sent a few sets at a
time. Originally there were going to be 4340 I-beam rods for pressed pins
and be finished last June. After months of delays, they then said they
got H-beam cores by mistake but would honor the agreement. After waiting
even longer for them to finish the rods, they bushed every set instead of
making them for pressed pins with only 10 sets bushed for floaters. Since
they finished them and sent out the first few sets , they decided they
wanted to make up the money for their mistakes so they said they would not
ship the rest until they renegotiated the price. What does that mean to
you? Well, if you were one of the guys who prepaid me for sets, you got a
screaming deal. Those who bought them up to about a couple weeks ago, got
them around the price you saw which was still a great deal on that rod set
up. The price now is upwards of $450 a set.

I've read that there are now Forged H beam SCAT
connecting rods for the AMC360 now available:
best price I've seen is $375.00 for 8 .

What RPM do the stock rods give up at ?

What RPM do these SCAT rods go to ?

What RPM does the crank kiss the hood insulation?

Is a '78 360 block that much 'thinner' than say a '72 ?

Weight difference between a cast 360 crank and a 401 Forged ?

Inquiring Minds > thanks in Advance!
