As I understand it, the Edelbrock Shorty's are supposed to be direct replacements for the factory manifolds.

I know full size headers flow better, but I'm so disgusted with them for a street car with all the problems that go with it, I'm either going back to manifolds and a free-flowing exhaust, or maybe going with the Edelbrocks. They are kinda pricey @ $300 +or_, but maybe that's the answer.

My headers are flattened on the bottom (as mentioned by someone else), rusty (cured by coating I know), I'm always chasing leaks, and I don't even want to get into the starter problems with access and hot-start.

For a drag car, or a limited use hot street, I guess it's worth it, but I want to drive mine when I want to, and still have sufficiant performance from that old 390 to show a camaro those American taillights occasionally...
