I always figured the four cylinder brakes would be great on a drag car. Still get the quality of a disc brake and save a couple of pounds. To bad the book didn't go back further than 79, but that verifies that the four cylinder rotor is different. I just wonder if the 77-78 rotor is a different number. I know the 77 TSM states the 2.0L rotor is solid, not sure about 78. > >The 71-76 rotors are the hard ones to get. I'm pretty sure the Kelsey Hayes and Big Bendix calipers used the same rotor. The rotor is the same diameter as small six cylinder cars, but is a bit thicker (more space in the center) so they cool a bit faster/better. I'd only recommend them for road racing because of the expense. The thinner rotors work fine even on the big cars under normal driving conditions. The Big Bendix calipers should work fine with the thinner rotors, but I haven't tried that. I have converted a drum brake big car (67 or 68 Rebel) to disc using Concord brakes with no problems and much improved braking. > >On January 18, 2005 Ken Siroonian wrote: > >> according to my amc parts books, for 01/40/60- not eagle 30 series: >> Calpers for 79/80 4 and 6 are the same.( L and r are differnet of course) >> 79 and 80 4 cylidner rotors are the same part number. $140 bucks in 1987 >> 79 and 80 6 cyl rotors are the same part number. $120 in 1987.(different from 4 cyl. >> 79 4cyl pads are one number. 80 4cyl is another. >> 79 6 cyl, except amx is another part number, and it subs up to 80 pacer 60 series. >> 79 amx is another number, and subs up to the # for 80 6 cyl for 01/40/30. >> 80 pacer 60 is different than 80 01/40/30. >> My AIMPCO barke parts book basicall lists the 4 cyl pad as D90, the 6 cyl as D91 with a diffentialtion of some being semi metallic, versis organic, I guess. >> rotors are 5106 for 6 cyl 79-83, eagle 80-88 5108. >> rotors are 5112 for 4 cyl 78-81. >> rotors for 77- 78 6 cyl is 5103. >> javelin 71-74 and 74 ambo rotor with K-H is 5101. 74 ambo wiht bendix is 5102. >> what were the rotors that are sadi to be hard to get or expensive? let me know i want to check with my vendor. mabye this info might help, or confuse, who knows. regards, Ken, >> >> >> >> > The foru cylinder cars that I saw had vented rotors. >> > They were smaller diameter than the six cylinder rotors. >> > >> > Mark Price >> > >> > >> >> ============================================================= >> Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist >> >> >> >> >> . > > >============================================================= >Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist > > > > >
