This is not my wagon but it is very similar to one I own.
It is a Classic Custom (mid-level trim) six passenger 196/3-speed with OD
wagon. It has been off the road for about 10 years I think. Supposedly the
OD trans was added by a previous owner. It is available here in the Bay Area
for $300 with a clean title. It is complete and has good glass. There is no
rust to speak of, based on my inspection of the car last summer. It recently
changed hands and the new owner will sell it since he got it cheap but he
will not sell parts. I can put you in touch with the owner or you can find
it listed on craigslist.com.
Is it from the CA desert area somewhere? Open rear drive
conversion? Silver, red interior? If so it's someone I met when I
first moved down here in 1996. Can't recall his name.
I remember this because he was having problems with the modified
traction bars used to locate the rear, were cracking. I realized
the next day what the problem was (torsional rotation: the
bushings used only allowed for rear up-and-down motion, not one
wheel lifting.) Easy fix. Couldn't contact him to tell.
Personally, I like the 61/62 body style better than the 63 ("car of the
year") styling (sorry Tom Jennings).
Remind me never to talk to you again.
