As stated, it's not as efficient as an under hood mounted turbo, but remote turbos DO work and have been used for years. P-47 Thunderbolt -- in lower fuselage behind the wing, about 10' (or more) from exhaust ports. The ones that company makes for trucks is about 5-6' away from the ports. I'm sure it's not as efficient as under the hood, but obviously is enough to make some power! I forget the website, but look through the posts and look at it if you doubt!! It just seems like everyone is saying "it won't work" (or won't work good enough to be worthwhile) when it's obvious it DOES (and apparently IS). Better under the hood? you betcha! Just not always feasible. The truck application doesn't add back pressure to the system -- they remove the muffler. The turbo quiets the exhaust instead. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http//:farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!)
