Brian, Matt's doing a great job getting you on track! Take the distributor cap off before removing the distributor. Watch the rotor as you pull the distributor out, but don't turn the distributor body. You should be able to see how far it moves as the distributor comes up.At this point you should be able to run the rotor and body together to where you want them to be and push straight back in. That should leave you at the same place you were before moving the distributor, but with room to turn it some more. Sounds like you were about 90 degrees out instead of 180 to begin with. The rotor usually turns around 30 degrees when the distributor is pulled out or pushed in. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http//:farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) -------------- Original message ---------------------- > From: "Brian Hagen" <brian.hagen@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: Mooing, Burping, just not startin, Rambler - UPDATE > Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2004 17:08:36 -0500 > > Matt, > > The thing i have problems with is how the distributor "turns" as you insert > it or remove it when it meshes with the teeth.
