Jamie, according to the 68 tech manual That 68 javelin vin decodes like this; A= American motors 8= 1968 c= floor shift auto trans 7= series(javelin) 9= body type(two door hardtop) 5= group(javelin) m= 290 V8,2V 312024= sequential serial number(100,001-699,999=kenosha built) door tag decodes as such body # denotes body serial number and plant where body was manufactured model#6879-5 =javelin series two door hard top(-7 would be sst option) trim#838j = ? paint#48a = tahiti turquoise metallic As far as the 800 asking price goes it would all depend on how repairable the car is or what quality of parts still remain with the car. If the back half is as badly rotted as most 68's are I would say its not worth what they asking.(of course that is just my opinion) Pat Doyle javelinman@xxxxxxxxxx On November 26, 2004 jamie smith wrote: > I was at Pull and Save about a week ago and they had a 1968 Amc Javelin (or I think it said 68, I could be mis remembering). I was there again today and it was still there. It has major front end damage and they are trying to sell it for $800. Is a wrecked Javelin worth that? here is the vin and door tag info. > > vin A8c795m312024 > door tag > I think body was 95303* > model 6879-5 > trim 838-j > paint 48-a > and then the last series of numbers was e106432* > > *I was texting these from my cell to my email and using letters to designate each one (t=trim, p=paint, etc.) so I am not real sure about the first and last ones listed under door tag.....I had the first one as b95303 and the list one as it is listed so I think b was for body and I am pretty sure the other number was the serial number or whatevr that number is. > > Jamie Smith > Spokane, WA. > oconner51@xxxxxxxxxxx > 1966 Rambler American 220 Station Wagon > 1966 Rambler Classic 770 2 Door Hardtop > 1966 Jeep Wagoneer > > > > ============================================================= > Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist > > > > > . ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
