A: The AX-15, AX-5 (4 cyls) and BA 10/5 all have separate bellhousings (they don't interchange either. I tried to put an AX-15 into my 4 banger MJ I had. It could have been done if I could have found the later model Dakota with AMC 4 cyl and AX-15 bellhousing) The BA 10/5 has an internal slave cylinder and AX-15 could be either. (the internal slaves are the same as the BA 10/5 ones) From: farna@xxxxxxx To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx (AMC-List) Subject: Re: mail Digest for 23 Nov 2004 in hour 20:00 Date: Thu, 25 Nov 2004 08:20:00 +0000 Message-Id: <112520040820.20352.41A595AF000A5B2400004F8021602806510E029D0E00@xxxxxxx> The AX-15 might have a separate bell, I'm reasonably sure the BA-10/5 has an integral bell. In any case, the bolt pattern for the trans is totally different from any of the old style US trannys. If you get one of the 86+ Jeep five speeds you will need the bell also. The BA-10/5 would be fine for your tpye of driving. The only people who complain about weakness are those who regularly four wheel or tow heavy loads with it. Everyone I know with one that they just tool around on the street with has never had a problem. Wheelers, however, break them regulalrly. The BA-10/5 will be an easier find than the AX-15 as most who break a BA try to replace it with the AX. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http//:farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) -------------- Original message ---------------------- > From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: WARNING!
