72/74 IH trucks. They have the Horizontal grill bars. I believe the only AMC V8 engines used were the 401. A quick check when you lift the hood. Look at the Thermostat housing. if it is round you have a 401 engine. Provided no-one swapped in another powerplant. double check by checking the raised numbers behind the motor mount. If the thermostat housing is rectangular you have a 304/345/392 IH motor. close the hood and walk away. If you can't get the hood open look underneath as the AMC oil pan has a rounded sump. The IH has a flat bottomed sump. Off topic I think they all came with 727 short tail shafts. Keep it in mind if you need a 727 with a shorter tail shaft.
