AMC's in IH trucks....

Have you looked at Eddies site at PlanetHoustonAMX.com. He has some good info on what to look for, the best why I know is to place your hand by the motor mount and feel to see its a an AMC block, if so it will have the engine block size numbers there for 304-360-390-401, I don't know of any other engine with the size stamped on them. From what I see in the old Motors or Chilton Auto Repair Manuals under General Engine Specifications the engine s are the same. As I just got a free 1972 six cyl tied to the 904 auto I was looking for i plan to look and see if the pistons and rod are the same as the 304's based on my manual the Bore on all 3 (232, 258 and 304) was 3.750. Makes me think they all use the same piston.

Anyone know of a net reference link (or other) that has a listing of what year I trucks had what AMC motors?? I walked my favorite yard yesterday to see what the ol guy crushed last spring (Summertime yard walks in Arkansas is not my favorite thing, snakes, chiggers, tics.... no thanks!!!). He pretty muched raped the AMC's he had there, of all things he saved the Spirits... A number of IH trucks were not taken, trucks are not wanted by the crusher boys as they have little weight to them.. Was wondering if any motors in these are worth picking up?? Most trucks would have less compression-able motors yes??? Worth saving??

Any advice or ridicule is accepted.
