Hmm.. not sure if I have the "Crap" panels or the "Crappier" panels! Mine
seem to have shed its plastic skin. The entire surface is cracked and in
pieces and underneath is black plastic. (my panels are black outside as
well) The thin plastic "shedded skin" breaks off easily.

I have an unverified note of interest for you if your rear interior panels
are shot on your convertible.
I have been told that Americans, Ambassadors and Classics al shared the
interior quarter trim from 64-66 [67 American]. Some are IIRC [If I recall
Correctly] painted fiberglass and some have a coating on them that makes
them really hard to make them look nice once the coating fails. Also,
again IIRC, the earlier 65-65? versions had the coating crap and again
[one last time] IIRC 66 had the painted Fiberglass panels. So, if all this
info is correct. You should be looking for quarter trim panels for a 66
Classic,Rebel,Ambassador and 66-67 American to replace your earlier
versions.
Anyone out there actually know if this info is correct?
My 65 Ambassador convertible has the crap covered panels and I have a set
of Fiberglass panels to paint and install[I was told they are the 66
Panels]. I just haven't had time to work on it at all.
