Hey Randy thanks for info on the cam gear problem (I must have missed your first post). Sounds like you are making some progress on it. Just a few thoughts from what you posted and what I saw with the Toyota's. I doubt it being oil related. The Toyota gears run in a "trough" that is always full of oil, even when the engine is off. I've seen it happen with syn oil and additives don't seem to help. I'm still leaning towards the proper hardness/material being the end cure. In the case of the Toyota the gears only drive the dist!! (they have a crank driven oil pump). How much pressure can that be?? Not much I would think but they STILL wear out. Improper alignment?? If I had the time I would take a front cover and cut an observation hole in it. Then assemble just what's necessary to turn the dist (no rods or pistons) and spin the whole mess watching what the gear assembly looks like while in motion. Check for gear lash and run out. But hey,,, that's just me! Bruce Hevner
