Edelbrock porting numbers & Forged 360 rods

Finally got the final flow numbers on the Edelbrock heads after unshrouding the valves. The heads did pick up a little all the way thru the lift range. However they did not respond as well as I had hoped, based on the pick up for the same work done on Indy heads. We did get 4 CFM on the big lift flow on the intake side and they did go on and pass air after .600 lift. Before they would back up air after .600 lift. We flowed to .700 and then treid .750, they did not pick up from .700 to .750 but they also did not back up.

The exhaust picked up 5 CFM on the high end lift.

So, not quiet 300 CFM on the intake, and a little more than 200 CFM on the exhaust total.

These heads are no where near max ported. In fact the ports are basically stock sized, only cleaned up. The chamber is now 56.8 CC where as in stock form in was 54.4. I am sure with a generous port job you could get well over 300 CFM here. And on exhaust, it is hard to say, but I know the port opening is smaller than a stock cast iron head so opening it should pick up flow as well. Thois set for this customer does not require that amount of work.

We have had this set on the flow bench 3 times with different amounts of work done each time. I will post all the flow numbers for comparison either over the weekend or sometime Monday.

Regards,

Randy Guynn
