Ok , Randy, etal
The original order was for 250 AMX 3s. As time went along the numbers of
ordered cars was reduced to 25
and after about 5 cars were completed the order for the cars was cancelled
with 5 or 6 cars more amx 3 S in variously
states of completion . The man AMC had doing the cars in Italy was a man
named Bizzarini, an Italian engineer who
done a lot of the work for Ferrari and some of the other exotics cars
companies. Five cars were dome and shipped to the USA.
A six car was given to a Diamonte who was one of Bs' engineering LTs. This
six car also red got a longer tail end an a
set of upside down fire bird T/A tail lights. The 5 or 6 other unfinished
cars AMC told B to dispose of and he did so by finishing them off
using Ford 351 V_8s and the later long tail rear end and possibility a
double set of fire bird tail lights. There were disposed of as Bizzarini
(SABalarryisrias) .(The Italian word for saber , however you spell it.
Which is what Randy is talking about. I have a whole note book of photos of
the AMX introduction in Rome and of the factory were they were being built.
thanks LRDaum
PS yes there was one the was suppose to be blue that was last seen being
used as a chicken coupe in Central Indiana and it the AMX 3
that is believed to be missing. LRD

In moving some older automotive books to different storage area I ran
across my collection of ill. Enclc, of automibiles sderies of books.
Just decided to thumb thru a couple and see what ''old'' turned new to
me. Located the Autounion auto info from the 30s I had recently heard
about. Very intresting stuff, 253 speed in 1937 is pretty impressive to me.
Anyway, As i thumbed thu one book I located a section on Prototypes.
Very futuristic stuff on the first page, at least for early 70s. Sceond
page has a pic of AMX III in blue, and it is captioned as ....one that
is shown was this American Motors Sciabila AMX 3.
Anyone ever heard or read of the AMX III in conjunction with the name
SCIABILA??
Also, I have seen 3 of the cars, but never a blue one, only heard of
that one. I understand the blue car is the one that supossidly has
chickens roosting in it.

Randy Guynn
