Only if you have the right angle adapter, as on the 4.0L and Eagle 258s. All others have the "mount" made onto the block. The o-ring has never been a leak problem as far as I know. I removed the adapter from my 4.0L and use a 258 mount. There is a nipple that has to be screwed into the block to use a block mount filter without the adapter. The bolt that runs through the adapter is hollow and screws in where the nipple normally does.
