Fw: Pinion gear restore

Gary,
Take the shaft to a good machine shop and let them fix the threads right
if the gears are worth the repair estimate. The best kind of shop to take
it to is a "Machine Works" type of shop that can do things that an engine
shop may not be able to do. These shops will put a small job like that
aside until they have more of these to do, then they will usually give you a
good deal. I had a transmission shaft journal built up and turned back down
for $25.00 several years ago. To replace the shaft would have cost me about
$300.00 at that time. There is more than one way that your repair can be
done and be done well. Check them out.
            Your AMC friend,
             Gary Walker
