I agree, Engine mounts are the most overlooked item in trouble shooting clutch "chatter". AMC's do NOT have a very good rear mount. It does not do a good job of limiting rotation of the engine/trans assembly. I kept splitting the rubber on the left front mount of my SC/Rambler. I used the following to cure the problem. I attached a small chain to the front of the left (drivers side) cylinder head. I attached the other end to the frame allowing just a SMALL amount of slack (you might have to play with this to get it right) so the engine would idle smooth without vibration being transmitted to the frame. That ended the mount splitting problem. But hey,,,, that's just ME! Bruce Hevner
