Ian ...... dude......OhmyGOD way too much time on your hands Chief .....put that Guiness down and listenn'nup AMC style.. ........ the '87-'90 Renix (Renault-Bendix) EFi system in the Cherokees are a kick-ass unit. Designed by Renault (see Indy Cars & 'Other' racing) and Bendix ( see all prop Fighter Aircraft of WWII - USA - and Packard & Chevrolet EFi designs etc.) and ALL THEIR COMBINED DOUGH INVESTED IN RESEARCH ......... read cubic cash into the design - RENIX : They'll take cam changes - Turbos - Superchargers due to their Very Broad Sensor Bandwidth - and a good deal of punishment - as viewed by the large number of these with 250K+miles on them STILL running in Beat to SHIT-BOXES . Join this group : & Read the Archives on : www.strokers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The 'in the know' crowd run the Renix with an HO Throttle Body and these 'Boys' are the 'Real Deal Builders' of 4.0 'Killers'. We're talkin' 'Box Stock' parts Ian - ready at the 'forefur & the 'marginal skinnies' - !DISCLAIMER! : ( damned amazing what Dunkin'Doughnuts Coffee and no sleep has wrought on my 'View'Point..") You can go to the NAXJA.org list and find yourself a Renix system for less than you'd pay for one Carb - which you plan to put on an EFi Intake Manifold ....... an odd plan to begin with - as EFi manifolds are designed for 'Dry Flow' - not - 'Wet Wall Flow' - among other design 'considerations'. THE BEST hands down Carb Intake Manifold for the AMC I-6 is the 1982 - 1988 AMC water cooled all aluminum unit that AMC spent HUGE $$ amounts on designing with Flow Benches to get 'Uniform Runner Flow' design / performance stats from. The Top MOAB jeep Race Engine builders preFER these to ANYthing on the market . CLIFFORD are BathTubs when you look at 'Flow' design . They are for WOT - Racing - Wide Open Throttle - as the Plenum offers up ' stall ' at low RPM levels since it is just a Ball Park full of slow air in no defined direction . Top Race Jeep Builders use an $18.95 Mr. Gasket 4bbl. carb adapter - which adds a 'Venturi Effect' to the physics - and just do a 'port matching' with a Dremel to the Bone Stock AMC Intake Manifold. I mean IAN @! WHat could be more 'CREAMY' ? BUT an EFi system will blow a carb into the weeds in day to day real life TOTAL control - variables accounted and adjusted for on the nano-second and - that is the New Reality . I'm not real sure what you want to do & what type of driving you want the Engine to produce for, as I must have missed the Post . So here is my suggestion for a 350HP Inline 6 with minimal $$ : First : you join this group : www.jyturbo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx you read their Archives & the daily Digest you subscribe for . Next : Find an '97 or Newer 4.0 with Trans - preferably the AW4 if your 4wd or the Toyota Supra unit for a 2wd. These are Automatic AISIN units and will shift faster than you can wink - and with a Turbo - you don't lose Boost between shifts . The '97+ engines have the Increased main bearing webbing cast in + the Factory Main Stud Girdle . Look for a 1997 - 2000 engine & trans. Start surfin' the eBAy scene for used Turbo stuff 'feels' .. You'll need to craft up a Turbo header to mount your 03 Turbo to .. and then a 'Bonnet' ontop of the Throttle Body to guide the air in. That is the worst of it and perhaps one of the jyturbo Gentlemen would do it for just a few 'skinnies' . Learn about BOV - blow off valves and Boost Controllers for inside the Car Cabin. A www.google.com search will reveal a wealth of sites to leer about . You can run safely - without an Intercooler - 7 lbs. of Boost on a Stock 4.0 - and that translates to the 350HP figure. I would personally - install a used Ford PowerStroke Intercooler from a Truck - look on eBay or ask on the jyturbo group for a loose one for sale . You'll be a 'Happy Motoring' kinda' Guy going this route rather than 'Researching' results with parts that aren't meant to be mated mate . AS for the EFI pump - the JEEP boys use them in THEIR conversions - and I was just looking at EFi conversion pumps just the other day - online. Hope some of this Works for you :) Brien. NEW YORK
