The Salinas airshow is going on this weekend and I live practically in the traffic pattern of the airport. It's great when the demo teams are in town. They started practicing on Thursday up through the clouds so I didn't see much of them. Yesterday I had Blue Angel FA-18 Hornets (AMC content) over my house at about 800 to 1000 feet, four and two in various formations. Great. The Canadian Snowbirds showed up today. It's the first time I had seen them. Impressive too. I finished putting in the anti-dieseling relay in the 1980 Spirit today. No buzzing when the battery was hooked up. I found the part (and I gotta think it has be to rare) on Partsvoice. A dealer in Wisconsin had it and charged me $37 with shipping. If the part number had not been stamped on the part, my search would have been more difficult, but I did find out that the car will run without that part in place. Because of the low power output of the engine (Iron Duke 2.5L) I am considering installing an electric fan. I figure I could get one from any GM Iron Duke application. It might save 10 to 12 horsepower, which would be a big percentage gain (90 hp net output at present). I know GM had not yet converted to electric fans on the front drive H-bodies in 1980, but the sideways engines had them. Regards, Joe Fulton Salinas, CA
