The above item (eBay #2491628291) is the late style (about 1972 & later) AMC "Twin Grip" posi unit. If you look carefully at the lower left photo, you can see the clutches behind the side gear. These later AMC style posi carriers are similar in appearance to an "open" carrier, in that both are one-piece construction with openings in the sides to access the various internal parts. But if you were to compare this "Twin Grip" unit with a standard "open" unit, you would see differences. (1) In the "Twin Grip", if you look carefully, you can see the clutches behind the side gears. The open carriers don't have any clutches. (2) The side openings are MUCH LARGER in an open carrier, compared to a "Twin Grip". At least twice the opening size. In fact, the "open" carrier is mostly OPEN, with very little metal connecting the two ends. > > > > > http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34208&item=2491628291&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW THE EBAY ID # YOU SHOW HERE IS THE SAME NUMBER AS ABOVE, SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY REFERRING TO!
