Re: How to repair pinholes in oil pan

A: I have tried quite a few different things and all seemed to work.
Seal-All glue patched a 3/8" hole for 5 years where a con rod hit a pan bolt
that had fallen into the motor during assembly. It couldn't be found at the
time, so we buttoned it up and ran 4 months before it fell and was punched
through.

The saga continues for my 83 258 rebuild. Picked up
the block at the machine shop and they showed me a
pinhole that had developed in the oil pan near the
drein plug. There are several other beginnigs of
holes that haven't gone all the way through.
Their welder said the metal was not thick enough to
weld w/o warping or burning a bigger hole. I was
thinking about just using my MAPP gas to heat the
metal and then filling the holes with solder, possibly
using the JB Weld stuff or gas tank repair material.
Anyone done this before or have other suggestions?
Thanks.
