While I was porting my throttle body to remove the restriction it occured to me that there should be a very easy fix for the stall or surge condition that may occur when not running the speed sensor with the H.O system. To back track the ECU uses the speed snesor to know when you are deccelerating. It opens the IAC to raise the idle so you don't get a stall or low idle and surge when coming to stop. My thinking is that if I block the IAC opening and set the base idle with the hidden throttle plate stop screw. This will help to avoid the stall surge problem. Anyone ever try this? It might also explain why Dino's doesn't stall when his speed sensor was out. He is using the Mustang throttle body and his base idle setting probably differs from stock. I plan on trying this theory out on the American and seeing how it works. Will not having the speed sensor in line effect timing issues or fuel economy? I don't want Cruise control or A/C or an automatic. Which would be the other reasons to have the speed sensor. If I don't have a problem with stall or surge coming to a stop I see no other reason to have the speed sensor. Mark Price
